Imagine waking up in a box and not knowing where you are or WHO you are. That's what happens to Thomas. His memory is blank and he soon finds out he's not alone. When the box is open, he finds himself in an unknown place with a bunch of boys who call themselves the Gladers. They want answers, but all he can remember is that his name is Thomas without any recollection of where he came from. His new home is a large open space that is surrounded by stone walls that open for a few hours each day and close back up at night. On the otherside of the stone walls is a maze, that so far no one can beat. And to add to the weirdness, a new boy is delievered in the same box Thomas arrived in, every 30 days. This book is very suspenseful as Thomas tries to figure out what his role is within the Glade. He may be more important than they all know. And then the girl arrives in the box. The first girl to ever enter the Glade and she has a very suprising message...
If you liked The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, you'll love this action-packed, suspense series by James Dashner. It was a trilogy series, but just recently he added a fourth book, The Kill Order, that serves as a prequel to all the others. I still recommend starting this series with The Maze Runner for the full page-turning experience.
